Carbon Neutrality Support Center
Chonnam National University actively collaborates with local government and community groups to participate in climate action planning. The university operates Carbon Neutrality Support Centers on its Gwangju and Yeosu campuses, playing a crucial role in promoting carbon neutrality and addressing climate change in the region.
1. Buk-gu Carbon Neutrality Support Center
The Buk-gu Carbon Neutrality Support Center was established at Chonnam National University’s Gwangju campus. Operated by the university's Management Research Institute, this center works closely with Buk-gu District Office to support the development and implementation of carbon neutrality plans, manage greenhouse gas emission statistics, and develop energy transition models. The center also collaborates with the local community to promote carbon neutrality practices and engage residents in climate action plans.

2. Yeosu Carbon Neutrality Support Center
The Yeosu Carbon Neutrality Support Center was established at Chonnam National University's Yeosu campus. The center is dedicated to supporting the transition of Yeosu into a carbon-neutral society by 2050, working in partnership with the city of Yeosu to develop comprehensive climate action plans and conduct research on energy transition. The center also contributes to Yeosu's efforts to become a leading carbon-neutral city and plays an active role in promoting international climate initiatives like COP33 (UN Climate Change Conference).

These two centers are key elements of Chonnam National University’s climate action plan, demonstrating the university’s commitment to collaborating with local government and community groups to address climate challenges and build a sustainable future.
