1-2. Climate Protection Specialist Training [Professionals]
The Climate Protection Specialist Training for Professionals, conducted in August 2023, aimed to prepare Yeosu for hosting COP33 and to enhance climate change response by educating participants on carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas reduction. The program, organized by Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center and Yeosu YMCA, included 17 hours of training (6 hours online, 11 hours in-person) and was attended by 37 participants, including 17 instructors. With a satisfaction rate of 92%, the program significantly contributed to improving the teaching capabilities of local instructors and raising environmental awareness among citizens, supporting the goal of achieving 2050 carbon neutrality.
1-3.Climate Protection Specialist Training [Citizens]
The Climate Protection Specialist Training for Citizens was conducted from June 26 to July 31, 2023, to support Yeosu's bid for COP33 and promote carbon neutrality and greenhouse gas reduction. Organized by the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center, the training included 18 hours of both online and in-person sessions, with 54 out of 60 participants completing the program. With a 92% satisfaction rate, the training improved participants' understanding of climate protection and prepared them to contribute to environmental movements and practices. The program also emphasized the role of citizens in achieving 2050 carbon neutrality.
1-4.2023 Environmental Monitoring Officials Capacity Building Training Report
The Environmental Monitoring Officials Capacity Building Training, held on April 28, 2023, aimed to enhance the expertise and job performance of local environmental officials in Jeollanam-do. The training covered key topics such as updates to environmental laws, inspection techniques for pollutant-emitting businesses, and response procedures for water pollution incidents. The program also included hands-on sessions on sampling methods for air, noise, and odor pollution. With around 70 participants, the training improved the officials' ability to oversee environmental issues and respond to pollution incidents effectively, contributing to better environmental protection in the region.
1-5.Inter-floor Noise Consultant Training Report
The Inter-floor Noise Consultant Training was conducted from June 7 to July 6, 2023, to prevent disputes and manage inter-floor noise issues in apartment complexes. The training targeted apartment management staff and residents, focusing on dispute prevention and management strategies. A total of 33 participants attended the 10-hour program, with 29 completing the course. The training emphasized the importance of proactive noise management, and participants expressed a high satisfaction rate (97%), with 94% finding the course useful for acquiring knowledge. There is a demand for more case studies on inter-floor noise dispute resolution.
1-6.Air Sector Environmental Officer Capacity Building Training Report
The Air Sector Environmental Officer Capacity Building Training was held from August 23 to 24, 2023, focusing on improving the understanding and management of air pollution control measures in the Yeosu Industrial Complex. The training, consisting of six lectures over 14 hours, was attended by 11 participants from companies like BASF Korea, Kumho P&B, and Lotte Chemical. The program covered topics on emission limits and practical exercises on monitoring air pollutants. Participants expressed high satisfaction (100%) and indicated the need for additional practical training. The course is expected to contribute to better compliance with air quality regulations and ESG management.
1-7.2023 Climate Crisis Response Carbon Neutral Environmental Instructor Training Report
The 2023 Climate Crisis Response Carbon Neutral Environmental Instructor Training was held from July 4 to October 17, 2023, at Chonnam National University's Yeosu Campus. The program aimed to train citizens, university students, and instructors as carbon-neutral environmental educators. A total of 60 participants attended, with 44 completing the course. The course included 12 sessions, with participants being appointed as climate crisis and carbon-neutral instructors in local schools. The program took place at Chonnam National University’s Gwangju campus from August 7 to 11, 2023, for a total of 5 days, with 30 participants completing the training. Participants engaged in job preparation lectures, company tours, and mentoring with industry professionals to enhance their employment capabilities in the environmental field. A satisfaction survey revealed that 96.7% of attendees were satisfied with the program and expressed interest in participating again.

The Small-Scale Air Pollution Emitting Facility Environmental Manager Capacity Building Training was held from September 20 to December 28, 2023, targeting 4th and 5th-class air pollution-emitting facilities in the Jeonnam region. A total of 53 participants, including environmental managers and citizens, attended the program, with 45 successfully completing the training. The course covered IoT device operation and air pollution control facilities, improving participants' skills in managing air pollution prevention systems. The satisfaction rate was 98%, with 94% of attendees finding the program helpful for their job prospects.
1-10.Mobile Carbon Neutral Environmental Education Report
The Mobile Carbon Neutral Environmental Education was conducted on October 16, 2023, at Gwangyang Baekwoon High School for 88 first-year students. The program included 2 hours of theoretical and practical education on climate crisis awareness, carbon neutrality, and eco-friendly practices like creating zero-waste shampoo bars. The training aimed to enhance students' understanding of carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability. Overall, the program received an 81% satisfaction rate, though some participants found the content similar to previous education. The initiative contributes to fostering ecological awareness and promoting practical carbon neutrality efforts in daily life.

From November 9 to December 28, 2023, the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center conducted a Carbon Emissions Trading Scheme training for 41 participants, including representatives from carbon-emitting companies and citizens. A total of 34 participants completed the course. The training was delivered through online video lectures, and participant satisfaction was rated at 97%. The training aimed to strengthen companies' capabilities in response to the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and contributed to achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets while advancing ESG management practices in businesses.
1-12.Advanced Training for Climate Protection Experts (Environmental Instructors) Report
From November 27 to December 6, 2023, advanced training was conducted for 16 graduates of the Carbon Neutral Environmental Instructor Training course. The training focused on improving teaching skills, lesson planning, presentation design, and use of teaching materials. Participants received hands-on feedback to enhance their instructional abilities. While satisfaction with the course was high, some participants expressed disappointment over the shortened training duration. This training is expected to further support efforts for the 33rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP33) and promote climate protection activities in everyday life.
1-13.Climate Protection Ecocity Architecture Specialist (Basic) Training Report
From December 13 to 21, 2023, a 10-hour, 5-session training was conducted in Yeosu, targeting 69 participants, including citizens, public officials, and construction industry professionals. The course focused on eco-friendly urban architecture, carbon-zero housing, and green building standards. A total of 50 participants completed the course, with a satisfaction rate of 88%. The training aimed to foster an understanding of ecological urban planning and contribute to Yeosu's goal of becoming a leading city in climate change response and sustainable urban development.
