President Jeong Elected Chairman of the Korean Council for University Education

CNU President Jeong Byung-seok was elected as chairperson of the Korean Council for University Education.

According to the Korean Council for University Education, Jeong was elected to be the 27th president of the council at the regular general meeting held in Jinju, Gyeongnam Province on December 5. The term of office is one year.
 
Jeong said, “We will try to shape the rebirth of innovation, leading the balanced development of the nation and each region through communication and consultation with member universities as well as the Ministry of Education.”

Thirty-four presidents of public and national universities and Park Baek-beom, the Vice-Minister of Education attended the general meeting of the council. The major subjects for the meeting were as follows: ▲ the introduction of plans to guarantee fairness in the university application process, which the Ministry of Education recently released ▲ university application fairs prepared collectively by nationwide public and national universities ▲ a strategy to deal with the decision of the Constitutional Court on a lawsuit against a national university on wages for part-time lecturers ▲ the necessity to alleviate the condition for scholarship applications of those who work first before entering college (Ladder of Hope type 2 ).
