CNU Biomedical Evaluation and Research Center held an opening ceremony at 2pm on September 25 and started its full-fledged operation. In the opening ceremony of the CNU Biomedical Evaluation and Research Center (Director: Professor Park Sang-won), 300 guests including CNU officials such as Vice President Han Eun-mi and Lee Sam-yong (Director of the CNU Hospital), and important figures in local society such as Lee Byung-hoon (Vice Mayor of Culture and Economy Division of Gwangju), Yang Hang-je (the former executive commissioner of the ‎Democratic Party), Kim Chul-soo (Director of the Korea Dentists’ Association), Im Hoon-taek (Director of the Korea Dental Industry Association), and Park Chang-heon (Director of the Gwangju Dental Association).

The CNU Biomedical Evaluation and Research Center is located in the third floor of the Gwangju and Jeonnam Area Oral health Center for People with Special Needs in the CNU Dental Hospital. CNU renovated the space with a 3 billion KRW budget. 

The Center will conduct physical and mechanical safety evaluation of dental treatment devices and materials as well as providing technical support for product development and quality control.

In addition, in the opening ceremony of the CNU Biomedical Evaluation and Research Center, four representative figures of medical device industries in Gwangju attended and donated a total of 100 million KRW of development funds. Kihyun Tech (Director: Chae Ok-ju), Yunwon Bio (Director: Lee Soon-hyun), KJ Meditec (Director: Moon Dae-seon), and Polybiotech (Director: Jeong Yong-ho) contributed 25 million KRW respectively for fostering talents in CNU and for the development of the CNU Biomedical Evaluation and Research Center.

Furthermore, Lee Jong-mo, Paik Nam-kyu, Moon Hyuk-ki, and Ko Kyung-tak received the Gwangju Mayor's Award for their contributions to the development of the medical materials industry.
