CNU opened the 5G Experience Zone (CNU Future Connecting Space) to provide its members with opportunities to experience future technologies such as VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality), and AI to prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution.

The CNU Computing Center (Director: Professor Lee Chil-woo, School of Electronics and Computer Engineering) opened the CNU Future Connecting Space on November 10 with a collaboration with KT Jeonnam Branch Office (Director: Oh Ki-seop). In the experience zone, visitors can use devices for 5G calls using 360° cameras and various smart mirror contents. They also can experience educational contents through virtual and augmented reality through KT Super VR, which has a high 4K resolution.

The Center also exhibits the bilateral Hangul-sign language translator and games developed by students, and the AI-research accomplishments of students, giving a glimpse of students' AI-related research activities.

CNU has become a leading AI research university by establishing an AI co-utilization platform such as a high-performance AI server to be easily used by researchers who need AI research in line with the opening of the CNU College of Artificial Intelligence Convergence.

President Jeong said, “We need to cultivate excellent talents who can be easily integrated into the emerging hyper-connected society based on big data and AI, and we need to be supported by the establishment of a higher education infrastructure to support them. Let's focus our capacity to play a leading role in the rapid changes conjured by the 4th industrial revolution.”
