CNU provided a special scholarship of 1.81 billion KRW to more than half of the undergraduate students who enrolled in the last semester.

According to CNU, it has provided 1.666 billion KRW to 9,931 undergraduate students who enrolled in the spring semester of this year. It aims to ease the academic and financial burden due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to create a stable academic environment for students. In addition, 7,100 students received the scholarship in the form of reduced tuition fees for the fall semester. In addition, 2,600 recipients, including those who graduated in August or who did not enroll in the fall semester, received the scholarship directly into their accounts on September 8.

CNU also raised 152.2 million KRW via the Love Student Campaign for Livelihood Support for students whose families are in difficult economic circumstances resulting from COVID-19, including unemployment and shut-down of businesses, whether temporarily or for good. The Love Student Campaign funds were prepared through the voluntary participation of CNU professors and staff. It is not only for those who are eligible for basic benefits, or for the next lowest income bracket, but also for students who have financial difficulties due to urgent economic conditions such as parental unemployment due to COVID-19. These funds were wired to the students’ account on September 8th.

In total, the special scholarship was distributed to 10,692 students, or 52% of the 20,490 undergraduate students enrolled in the last semester.

President Jeong said, “Acknowledging that many people are suffering from difficult condition due to COVID-19, CNU members have enabled measures to alleviate the difficulties of students and parent by adjusting, saving, budgeting, and raising funds to prepare this special scholarship. We hope everyone can overcome this hard time with courage and hope.”
