CNU’s Bio-energy Research Institute, with Prof. Bae Hyun-Jong at the helm, was selected by the Korea Research Foundation and is going to be supported as a core-research institute. Accordingly, the institute will be the beneficiary of an annual 500 million won research grant for up to nine years. Special fund for equipment and materials required at each level of ‘research project to develop bio-fuel and biomaterials using biomass.’ This research aims to develop energy crops, using biomass, to positively react to global warming, energy crises, and other such environmental issues. It will also focus on developing source technologies for bio-fuel production and materials with special purposes for using energy crops.
