College of Agriculture and Life Sciences hired Yasuyuki Arakane a Japanese scholar an associate professor. Hiring a foreign faculty member in the field of entomology was made for the first time in the nation. Dr. Arakane is an expert in the studies regarding the control of insect pests. His professional experiences include ten years for study on cuticle at Kansas State University and has well-recognized research achievements in worldwide scientific journals, such as Nature, PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences) and JBC (The Journal of Biological Chemistry).
