The academic meeting was co-supported by the Namyang Research Institute at Xiamen University, the Institute of China Studies at Malaya University and the CNU Research Group/BK21 Team for Global Korean Business. Some 100 global professionals over 10 countries, including China, Singapore, Japan, and Great Britain, Vietnam in the field of Diaspora studies participated in the meeting. The research group at CNU is a mecca for overseas Korean studies and currently, Prof. Lim Chae-Wan is its director. At the meeting, several topics including global Diaspora and international relations; international migration, multi-cultural society; history, culture and economy of Ethnic Chinese society in Southeast Asia and Korea; and participation of overseas Chinese in politics were discussed. Especially, participating organizations agreed to further develop inter-organizational joint studies; establish a network of research people and develop exchange/cooperation; diagnose on- and off-line network exchanges between overseas Chinese and Korean Business people; and to establish a plan to share research results on Ethnic Chinese in Southeast Asia.
