Prof. Park Haeng-soon Elected 1st President of ‘Women’s Network for Science & Gwangju-Jeonnam’

Prof. Park Haeng-soon in the College of Pharmacy has been elected as the 1st President of ‘Women’s Network for Science & Gwangju-Jeonnam,’ launched on June 17. In her inaugural address, she said “The idea for Gwangju-Jeonnam female scientists’ network has been formulated through many years of discussions. This new network will call together every women scientists working in academia, hospitals, research institutes, or industrial entities in Gwangju and Jeonnam under one network. The organization will promote science through activities encouraging female scientists to contribute to the community, by providing networking for peer support, advice and encouragement to each other.” “Currently, over a hundred female professionals engaging in science and technology fields are participating in the network as members. I fully believe that the women’s network will do amazing and much needed work, both in nurturing young scientists and in keeping female scientists in Gwangju-Jeonnam in touch and supported. The organization will provide many programs for female college students in order to nurture women scientists and technology professionals,” said Prof. Park. At the organization meeting, held on June 17, Prof. Park was elected as president and Prof. Lee Young-sook of CNU was elected as vice-president with Prof. Chung Hyun-sook of Chosun University and Prof. Kim Seon-min of Dongshin University. Prof. Im Hyun-sook of CNU and Prof. Chang Young-sook of Mokpo Catholic University were elected as auditors.
