CNU decided to donate outdated PCs, which were used at the university for its staff members or students, to the people who are economically disadvantaged or who are alienated from the updated information technology. On Sept. 27, the first donation was made. CNU sent 25 computers (Pentium II) to Sinji-myon, Wando-gun for the people who are out of information technology spheres. Another 49 computers will be donated to old people living alone and children who are responsible for supporting their family in Gwangju and Jeonnam area. The computers will be sent to them via Gwangju Welfare Center after the collected PCs have been refurbished at the CNU Computer Center. Since 1999, CNU has made PC donations for the people residing in Gwangju and Jeonnam communities and for the sister universities in other countries. To date, a total of 110 computer systems were donated. CNU will continue to make efforts for the donation project in order to promote the establishment of information infrastructures in this region.
