On February 17, two days ahead of the deadline for enrollment, 96.7 percent of the newly admitted students completed the enrollment. The enrollment cancellation of the students admitted to science and engineering departments has noticeably decreased compared to last year. This may be resulted from the government’s support for the science and engineering education. A total of 4,576 students have been given the opportunity to enroll, and enrollments were accepted for two days (Feb. 6 and 9) at the main office or branches of Kwangju Bank, located all over the country. The first enrollment rate reached up to 81.84%. This figure represents a 4.6 percent increase in the number of incoming freshmen compared with 77.24 percent of the previous year. A total of 831 students withdrew their enrollment opportunities. Among them, 224 students were the successful applicants of the recruitment groups ‘Ga’ and ‘Na’. The freshmen enrollment rates varied by recruitment methods: 98.9 percent (early admission program), 71.1 percent (regular recruitment- ‘Ga’), to 84.7 percent (‘Na’). If there are any seats remaining for enrollments, the students on the waiting list of the admission will be individually notified and encouraged to enroll. No students will be accepted from the waiting list after February 19, 2004.
