“The Humanities Lectures Given in May” Arranged - May 13: Socratic Self-recognition - May 20: History of the Koguryo Kingdom - May 27: Rereading the Greek Myths

The Research Academy of Humanities at CNU (Director: Prof. Kim Chun-seop in the Dept. of Korean Language and Literature) has arranged another series of the Humanities Lectures, titled “The Humanities Lectures Given in May.” The lectures will be given at 7 p.m. on Thursdays from May 13 through 27 at the Faculty Meeting Room of the Humanities Building III. On May 13, Prof. Eum Jung-sik in the Dept. of Philosophy, Sogang University gave a lecture on “Socratic Self-recognition.” Prof. Eum has authored many volumes of books including “What is Philosophy?” and “Ethics of Wisdom.” His research accomplishments have been leading the field of language philosophy. On May 20, Lee Ee-hwa, Representative Director of the Koguryo History and Culture Foundation, talked about Koguryo history under the title of “The history of the Koguryo Kingdom is the modern history.” On May 27, Ahn Yong-chul, emeritus professor of the Dept. of English Education, will give a lecture on “Rereading the Greek Myths.” Ahn will introduce the inside story of the mythological world. He has published the book titled “The Symbolism of the Greek Mythology – Human Desires and Their Transformations.” The Research Academy of Humanities is planning to give new series of the Humanities lectures in October and in December as well.
