CNU’s East Gate Area to Be Reborn as ‘the Road People Want to Take a Walk Along’ The area around CNU’s East Gate will be reborn as the road of culture, to be animated with the passions of young generation. The area has been famous for its entertainment culture and fashion in clothing. There are a variety of restraints, cafes, hair shops, and clothing stores along the road. However, many people pointed out the passion of the youths and the culture with individuality could not be found. The project to make the area ‘the road that people want to go for a walk along by’ has been initiated. The Office of Buk-gu District, Buk-gu residents’ committee, store association, and culture planners have cooperated to change the cultural aspect of the area. The project committee, led by Park Sung-hyun (Curator of Lotte Gallery), Kim Eun-ha (Stage Designer of Concert), and Han gil-woo (Director of Monandol), decided to install an outdoor stage along the alley where the store Ferre Jean is located. The stage will be used for music concerts, dance performances, martial arts performances, or rock concerts. The modeling works made up with recycling materials will be installed at the area. Benches will be also placed as a symbol for college students. In May, a national competition for street paintings will be held. The steering committee of the project is going to give a music concert once in a month. Every Saturday people can enjoy a new experience on the road without any vehicles. Starting with these start-up programs, the area will be reborn as a new place for university culture.
