The 18th goodwill match between Chonnam National University (President Chung Seok-jong) and Pusan National University (PNU, President Kim In-se) will take place be held at PNU Gymnasium for two days from May 7 through 8. Students, faculty, and staff members from the two universities will play basketball, volleyball, and tennis games. While the history of the CNU-PNU Match apparently dates back to 1981, this year marks the 18th Match. From 1989 through 1997 the match discontinued and in 1998 it was revived. Currently the match takes place annually at either university in turn. The two universities, representing the two local areas of Youngnam (the North and South Kyongsang provinces) and Honam (the North and South Jeolla provinces), recognized the intercollegiate athletic games as an event to contribute to strengthening the ties and have decided to hold this Match every year. A total of 76 players including professors, students, and staff members will participate in the Match. The CNU delegation will leave for Pusan at 1 p.m. of May 7. President Chung and his chief executive members will arrive at PNU earlier than the players in order to meet PNU President Kim and discuss programs to promote mutual cooperation for the university development. On May 7, the whole players from the two universities will attend a welcoming party, hosted by President Kim In-se. On May 8, the sport events will be held at the PNU gymnasium and the tennis court.
