CNU has broken ground on the construction of the Student Success Hall, which will become a new landmark at its Yeosu campus.

On January 24, CNU held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Student Success Hall at the Yeosu campus, which was attended by President Jung, students, faculty, as well as Members of Parliament Ju Cheol-hyun and Kim Hui-jae, Mayor Jung Ki-myung of Yeosu, Chairman Kim Young-gyu of the Yeosu City Council, city council members, and Seo Geum-yeol, the Superintendent of Education for Yeosu, among others.

The Student Success Hall will serve as an open space for enhancing student capabilities and engaging with the local community. With a total investment of approximately 14 billion KRW from national and municipal funds, the hall will span four floors, including one underground, with a total area of 4,091 square meters. It is scheduled to open in September next year.

The completion of the Student Success Hall, along with the ongoing remodeling of the library and the planned opening of the state-of-the-art BTL dormitory capable of accommodating 500 students by 2026, is expected to significantly improve the learning and living environment and further enhance cooperation with the local community.

On the same day, CNU held a "Cooperative Dialogue for Joint Growth with Local Communities" with about 40 key stakeholders attending, where tokens of appreciation were presented to Members of Parliament Ju and Kim, Yeosu Mayor Jung, and Yeosu City Council Chairman Kim for their efforts in securing the budget.

President Jung stated, "CNU has been a university that has grown together with the local community, and today's groundbreaking ceremony for the Student Success Hall, with approximately 20 billion won in municipal funds, is a model of cooperation between the local community and the university." He added, "As a university that grows together with the local community, we will continue to grow even more."

Members of Parliament Ju and Kim pledged to actively support the Student Success Hall in its role as a bridge between the local community and the university, stating that they will seek further ways to support student success.

Mayor Jung expressed his hope for more students to visit the Yeosu campus and for local residents to utilize the facilities, while Chairman Kim vowed to actively support the cooperative model between the local community and the university at the council level.

CNU President Jung said, “CNU is a university that has grown together with the local community, and the Student Success Hall, which had a groundbreaking ceremony today, is a model of win-win cooperation between the region and the university, with over two billion KRW being invested in the city. As a university that grows together with the local community, we will continue to grow even more."

Representatives Ju and Kim pledged, “We will actively support the Student Success Hall so that it can serve as a bridge between the region and the university,” and added “We will find more ways to promote student success.”

Yeosu Mayor Jeong said, “We congratulate the start of construction of the Student Success Hall and hope that more students will visit the Yeosu Campus and that local residents can use it together,” and while Chairman Kim said, “We will work at the council level to become a win-win model for the region and the university. We will also actively support this.”
