The employment opportunities at public institutions, which once seemed like a rare opportunity for students from regional universities, have now been significantly expanded.

This is because the Amendment to the Law on the Promotion of Regional Universities, which stipulates that 35% of new recruits in public institutions must be local talent, has recently passed the plenary session of the National Assembly.

What is even more welcoming is that the term “local talent” specified in this law does not only refer to graduates of local universities where public institutions are located but also encompasses graduates from all regional universities.

As a result, CNU students can be recognized as “local talent” not only in public institutions in Gwangju-Jeonnam, including Naju KEPCO, but also in 201 public institutions nationwide. The implementation is expected to begin as early as July this year.

While previous versions of this law only recommended a certain percentage of new recruits to be local talent, this amendment obligates it, marking significant progress.

It is known that the National University Presidents' Council, led by CNU President Jung, played a leading role in the legislative amendment.
