President Jeong declared, "We will concentrate all research and education capabilities on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) industry."

In an interview with "Morning 730" of KBC on the morning of April 19, President Jeong said, "Recently in our region, an artificial intelligence based research complex project with more than 400 billion KRW of governmental budget has been attracted after it was initially exempt from the preliminary feasibility assessment. We are sure that the AI industry will lead to the development of the future and we should concentrate all our research and education capabilities to this future."

Jeong said, "The age of AI is coming, which replaces human decisions, conducts tasks with robots, and facilitates transportation with driverless vehicles and money transactions by block chain technology. CNU will focus its education on how to teach, what to teach, and what kind of environment to prepare for students in order to fully embrace this field."

He added on the necessity of cooperation with local communities, "As CNU was founded on the basis of local people's contributions, we believe that by fulfilling our mission for regional development, we can pay off the debt to the local people. As the current government has relocated public institutions to non-capital regions for a more balanced development of the domestic landscape and helped local communities to improve their self-sufficiency, it is time for CNU and local communities to cooperate for sustainable and stable regional development."

Jeong also said on the educational goal of CNU, “We aim to foster future leaders who shed light on the world with competence just like CNU’s vision, truth, creativity, and service. CNU has trained creative leaders who will challenge with professional knowledge, have ethical and cultural sensibilities, communicate with people and communities, and explore the world. "

"During the first half of my term, I continued to conduct many projects such as establishing convergence majors, accommodating major governmental research projects, initiating urban regeneration projects, and building the democratic roads on campus. I learned from and am motivated by the mid-term evaluation of CNU staff on the first half of my term. I am determined to continue my efforts to improve the research environment for on and off campus projects, and strive to establish a long-term framework and foundation for CNU."
