CNU has decided to give the attendance score for applicants for undergraduate admissions and practical/performance-based admissions.

On June 29th, the CNU Admissions Management Committee confirmed and announced a plan to change the admissions process for the 2021 academic year, and urged students, parents, teachers, and guidance counselors to pay attention.

According to the amendment, CNU will recognize the disadvantages applicants are faced with due to COVID-19. Attendance score, which occupies 10% of the total score, will be given to all applicants for undergraduate admissions and practical/performance-oriented applicants. 

In addition, the evaluation of student records for admission will employ qualitative evaluation methods and relieve the burden of the examinees by maintaining the policy of admissions without submission of self-introduction.

Furthermore, CNU has decided to increase the number of possible applications for multiple application choices per application from three to four from this year's early decision process.

The change in the admission process at CNU was partly due to the COVID-19 crisis, which led to the public opinion that high school students were disadvantaged due to the gap in academic and comparative activities in the first half of the year. In light of the change, parent’s anxiety seems to have been relieved.

Meanwhile, CNU has established six cutting-edge departments to cultivate creative convergence talents to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and is recruiting 310 new students from this year's admission to participate. The new departments are as follows: the Artificial Intelligence Department, the Intelligent Mobility Convergence Department, the Big Data Convergence Department on the Gwangju Campus and Healthcare Medical Engineering Department, the Petrochemical Materials Engineering Department, and the Smart Fisheries Resource Management Department in the Yeosu Campus.

The Yeosu campus is also recruiting 227 students from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions to establish increase admissions for regional talent.
