CNU provided 8,000 masks to its four sister schools in China, and delivered comforting and encouraging messages to the presidents and members of the universities.

President Jeong and Park Seung-hyun, the President of Chairman of the CNU Alumni Association, met Son Hyun-woo, the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in at the president's conference room in the afternoon on February 20th. President Jeong said, “Schools that are affiliated with CNU, such as Wenzhou University, Wenzhou Medical University, Wenzhou 14th Advanced Middle School, and Yanbian University, are facing difficulties due to COVID-19. Therefore, CNU faculty members, students, and alumni members decided to send masks with encouragement and the warmth of friendship.”

President Jeong also said, “Currently, CNU is thoroughly managing international students who have been to China by providing personal quarantine equipment and separate spaces. As long as there is the Consulate-General Office of China in Gwangju to help the control, we want to cooperate with each other and build a good partnership for the future.”

The Consul General, Son, said, “I am deeply touched by the friendship of the Koreans who are comforting the grief of the Chinese. I feel grateful to CNU for supporting Chinese schools with materials (masks) even in difficult situations, even for CNU itself, which makes the donation even more valuable.” Gratitude was expressed multiple times.

Consulate General Son also said, “In my home country, Chinese people are carrying out a thorough quarantine procedure with due responsibility for everyone including Chinese students studying in Gwangju.” He also added, “Very importantly, there is still no infection reported from Chinese people in the Gwangju and Jeonnam area.”

Consul General Son also said, “We thank CNU very much for your efforts to proactively deal with COVID-19 for the safety of Chinese international students. Please pay more attention to Chinese students whose flight schedule to Korea was canceled or delayed and those who have difficulties in being issued visas and securing flights.”
