CNU is actively pursuing the establishment of an international campus in mainland China. A delegation, including Kook Min-suk, the Director of the Global Cooperation Division, visited Wenzhou Medical University on August 30, where an agreement on the establishment of an international campus was signed. The delegation inspected the international campus's classrooms and engaged in practical discussions about curricula with Wenzhou Medical University professors.

This international campus’s construction is expected to contribute significantly to the operation of the Ph.D. program in Medicine that is part of the Chinese-Foreign Cooperation operated by the College of Medicine of CNU and Wenzhou Medical University.

Chinese-Foreign Cooperation is a cooperative program that China's Ministry of Education has initiated with outstanding foreign institutions to develop joint courses and offer education to Chinese students.

The Medical Science Program offered at CNU's international campus is designed to train researchers in the field of basic medicine. The curriculum will include lectures by professors from Wenzhou Medical University as well as those from CNU's main campus. The regular course can be taken at Wenzhou Medical University's international campus, while thesis preparation and research are to be carried out at the main campus. Students who complete the course will receive a doctoral degree from CNU.

After signing a business agreement to establish an international campus, the CNU delegation visited the First Hospital of Wenzhou Medica University among the five affiliated hospitals operated by Wenzhou University and held a meeting with officials.

The First Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University operates a total of 4,000 beds and was the first hospital established in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, with over 5 million outpatient visits. Wenzhou University Hospital No. 1 expressed its hope that cooperation between CNU and Wenzhou University would expand to exchanges and cooperation between university hospitals.

Wenzhou Medical University is a prestigious university in China with over 20,000 students enrolled on four campuses and is currently operated as a separate university from Wenzhou University.

President Jung said, “Chinese universities’ continued interest in CNU was possible because of their trust in its excellent educational and research capabilities. I hope that discussions on establishing an international campus encompassing academic fields in various countries will continue in the future.”
