CNU has signed an agreement to expand academic exchange with University of Warsaw in Poland.

On July 13, CNU President Jung visited University of Warsaw and met with President Alojzy Z. Nowak to discuss the mutual development and activation of academic exchanges between the two universities. They extended and renewed the work agreement that has been in place for the past 10 years.

In particular, the two universities have additionally formed an agreement with a focus on joint research, expert training, and expansion of exchanges in the defense industry.

In addition, based on the common ground of both universities producing Nobel Peace Prize laureates, they have pledged to work together to enhance world peace. University of Warsaw has produced two Nobel Peace Prize laureates, while CNU awarded an honorary doctorate to the late former President Kim Dae-jung, Korea’s first Nobel Peace Prize laureate, in 2006.

Since the establishment of sisterhood relations in 2012, the two universities have exchanged more than 130 students in the form of invitation and dispatch, acknowledging dual degrees. With this agreement, academic exchanges are expected to become more active.

Established in 1816, the University of Warsaw is one of the most prestigious universities in Poland and is ranked 262nd in the QS World Ranking, a global university evaluation agency. It has produced notable figures such as Fryderyk Chopin, known as the poet of the piano, two Polish presidents, and six Nobel laureates.

President Jung visited Poland as a member of President Yoon Suk-yeol’s economic delegation to promote friendly relations between the two universities and countries and contribute to world peace.

President Jung expressed, “I hope this visit will serve as an opportunity to contribute to enhancing the friendship between the two universities and the two countries, and ultimately contribute to world peace.”
