[Rapid Diagnosis Training for Aquatic Animal Infectious Diseases]
Training has been conducted to utilize rapid diagnostic kits for aquatic animal infectious diseases in aquaculture fields and enhance disease surveillance skills. This training is essential for promptly diagnosing and responding to critical aquatic animal infectious diseases in the aquaculture sector.
The training program consists of both theoretical and practical components and covers the following key areas:
1. Understanding the theory and principles of rapid diagnostic kits for aquatic animal infectious diseases.
2. Acquiring practical skills and knowledge in the field application and operation of rapid diagnostic kits for aquatic animal infectious diseases.
3. Improving the ability to interpret the results of rapid diagnostic tests for aquatic animal infectious diseases and enhancing related job skills.
This training contributes to the aquaculture sector by improving the rapid response and diagnostic capabilities for aquatic animal infectious diseases, providing essential skills and knowledge to experts and field personnel in the field.

[70th Anniversary Documentary ‘We Go to the Islands’ Broadcast]
Chonnam National University has collaborated with KBS to produce a special documentary titled "We Go to the Islands" in celebration of its 70th anniversary. The documentary, which commemorates the 3rd Island Day, focuses on the islands and maritime territories of Korea and is subtitled "Active Island Project." It highlights the importance of islands as frontiers for maritime territory defense and fishing industries, the process of traditional fishing practices becoming cultural heritage, and the revitalization of remote islands as they integrate into daily living spaces. It also introduces various projects aimed at invigorating these islands. Chonnam National University expects this project to contribute to raising awareness of the importance of maritime territories and the university's president has stated the university's commitment to leading efforts in marine environmental research and preservation of maritime territories, pursuing harmony between humanity and nature.

[Smart Aquaculture Field Practice Course]
Chonnam National University's Smart Aquaculture Research Center has successfully completed the "Smart Aquaculture Field Practice Course." This course provided education on integrating fourth industrial revolution technologies such as ICT, big data, and AI into fish farming. It covered four main topics and ten different areas, starting from understanding smart farming systems and including practical exercises.
The course also included hands-on training at the testbed, where participants learned about water quality monitoring systems and the operation of smart aquaculture equipment and control systems. Center Director Kim Tae-ho emphasized the importance of cultivating specialized professionals to expand the smart aquaculture industry. He mentioned the university's commitment to establishing a systematic workforce development system through interdisciplinary and industry-academia networks.
The Smart Aquaculture Research Center has been operating as part of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' program to train seafood industry professionals since 2019. So far, it has produced over 140 smart aquaculture experts, including university professors, researchers, and master's and doctoral graduates.
