CNU successfully hosted the “2025 Spring Semester International Exchange Student Orientation,” reinforcing its position as a globalized campus.

CNU’s External and Global Engagement, led by Cho Jin-hyung hosted the event on February 28 at Cosmos Hall in the College of Engineering, with 137 exchange students from 65 universities in 26 countries in attendance. The orientation aimed to help exchange students quickly adapt to campus life and build a richer study-abroad experience through a variety of systematically organized academic and extracurricular activities.

The orientation included an introduction to ▲ CNU’s campus, ▲ guidance on academic schedules and dormitory life, ▲ key information on visas and residency, and ▲ an introduction to various extracurricular programs available for exchange students. Key highlights included the Korean Educational Tour (Discover K), which provides international students hands-on experiences with Korean culture and history, extracurricular activities that promote cross-major interactions, and a buddy program where exchange students can naturally interact with Korean students.

To further support students, CNU partnered with KT to provide each exchange student with a free SIM card for one month and also provided information on major cultural and artistic sites in Gwangju, helping students settle into life in Korea more easily.

Following the orientation, a networking session was held at Haetdeulmaru on campus, where exchange students and current CNU students could interact freely, increasing the anticipation for their study abroad experience.

Professor Kang Ui-huack, Vice Director of International Cooperation, welcomed the exchange students, saying, "We warmly welcome you to CNU, and hope you immerse yourselves in the history and culture of Gwangju, the city of democracy, while having a meaningful experience during your study abroad. CNU will continue to expand international exchange programs as a global education hub and will spare no effort in providing systematic support to ensure that foreign students can experience diverse cultures and gain a broader understanding of Korean society in an optimal learning environment."

Meanwhile, CNU’s international exchange program is a flagship initiative built on close partnerships with prestigious universities worldwide. Exchange students can study at CNU for up to two semesters and earn credits recognized by their home universities. As of 2024, CNU is actively exchanging with 149 universities in 33 countries and attracts about 500 international exchange students each year.
