CNU selected and honored explorer Kim Hyun-kook as the CNU Member of the Month.

On May 4, CNU President Jung presented a commendation plaque to Kim and encouraged him in the conference room on the third floor of the University Headquarters Building, with about 10 key officials in attendance.

Kim, a graduate of the Department of Law (class of 1987), crossed Siberia alone on motorbike for the first time in the world. He is the first Korean to be a regular member of The Explorers Club, the world’s largest group of explorers. On May 16, he will begin his sixth journey to cross the continent, this time in an SUV.  
After his award-accepting speech, Kim said, “I think I gained this honor after walking along one road without giving up for 30 years. I believe the Korean peninsula is the beginning of the Eurasian continent, and venturing to the region at a time when the north and south are divided, it is ever more important to pursue the goal of building and popularizing data on roads to the Eurasian continent.”

President Jung said, “I am proud of the tenacious spirit of alumnus Kim Hyun-kook, who constantly challenges an unknown world, and he will be a good role model for young students.”
