A Workshop for the Curriculum Development of the New Dental Graduate School to Be Held on Oct. 28-29

The College of Dentistry, ahead of the new dental school system beginning in 2005, will hold a workshop for the development of new curricula for the new dental graduate school system. The workshop will be held at the main building of the dental college, located at Hak-dong, downtown Gwangju, from Oct. 28 through 29. In the first session, beginning at 2 p.m. on Oct. 28, a public brainstorming process will be carried out under the title of \"The Changes of Educational Environments and Dental Education.\" The presentations of case studies on dental education in other countries will be made. Prof. Kim Min-gang of Seoul National University (SNU) will speak on \"The Changes of Higher Education and Dental Education\" and Prof. Kim Gak-gyun of SNU will talk on \"The Changes of Dental Educations in America and Europe.\" Prof. Shin Je-won of Kyong Hee University will introduce the curriculum of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (LLUSD). In the second session, the fundamental guidelines and current situations of the curriculum innovation for dental schools in Korea will be introduced. Prof. Lee Je-il of Seoul National University will explain SNU
s basic policy of curriculum reformation for dental college. Prof. Lee Seung-jong of Yonsei University will talk on Yonsei
s present conditions of dental college curriculum innovation. At 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, a brainstorming process will be carried out under the title of \"the Practice of Dental Curriculum Development\". The curriculum introductions of dental colleges in foreign countries will present alternative proposals for the curriculum development, effective to the dental colleges in Korea.
