A workshop for the explanation of the University Consortium System will be held at the main meeting room, located on the 3rd floor of the CNU Administration Bldg. at 11 a.m., Oct. 9. The workshop was prepared to develop comprehensive and up-to-the-minute information on university consortium establishment. The Working-level Committee for Building a Gwangju-Jeonnam National University Consortium System (Chair: Dean Kim Hyun-tae, Office of Planning & Cooperation, CNU) held its fifth meeting at CNU at 3 p.m., Oct. 2. At the meeting, the representatives from the five universities agreed to hold a series of workshops, starting from Oct. 7 at Sunchon and Yosu. The Committee arranged the workshops in order to discuss an appropriate system for the five national universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam. A system of
one chancellor and five vice-chancellors at each campus
will be discussed at the workshop. It is expected to adopt the proposed system with the consents of the university members at the workshops. For a proper enactment of the system, deans of the five universities in charge of university planning offices will visit Japanese Government (Monbusho, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), Nagoya University, and Nara Prefecture University. The trip to Japan is scheduled on Oct. 15-18. After the trip, the Committee will prepare a detailed project plan of the university consortium system. Beginning from Oct. 7 (11 a.m.) at Yosu National University, the series of workshops will be held. At 3 p.m. on Oct. 7, a workshop will be held at Sunchon National University. On Oct. 8, there will be workshops at Mokpo National Maritime University (11 a.m.) and at Mokpo National University (3 p.m.). The final workshop will be held at CNU at 11 a.m. on Oct. 9.
