- Online Application System Established Starting on Oct. 6, applications for CNU
s irregular recruitment 2004 will be accepted by Oct. 9. From Oct. 6 through 8, online applications are available via Internet. On Oct. 8 and 9, CNU will accept the applications at the reception desks, temporarily set up at the university gymnasium. CNU established an online application system in order to let applicants free from inconveniences, resulted from visiting to the university. With the newly-built Internet system, applicants are able to apply online via the university homepage site (http://www.chonnam.ac.kr) and the Apply Bank (http://www.applybank.com), an online application agency. When applicants use the university homepage, they can be exempt from application fees. An official of the Dept. of Admission said, \"Through CNU
s Internet Application System, applicants can check and compare their scores based on the students
cumulative records. The risks of Internet server down have been on the decrease. Applicants can save their time and money when they adopt the online application system.\" Through the irregular selection of freshmen for the 2004 academic year, CNU will recruit 1,218 students, which amounts up to 30 percent of the total intake quota (4,593). The irregular recruitment methods consist of three categories: a selection based on letters of recommendation from high school principals or teachers, a selection of students with special talents, and university autonomous selection. The applicant screening procedures have two stages: first selection based on applicants
school performances and second based on interview scores. The successful applicants, selected at the first screening, will be notified on Nov. 7. The final selection will be decided by the results of the first screening scores (60%) and interview test results (40%), which will be given on Nov. 21. The final results will be announced on Dec. 5.
