s Industry-Academia Collaboration Agency (Director: Im Young-chul) has been designated as a certification center for environment-friendly agricultural products. As more people are interested in environmental friendliness and safe foods, the demands for environment-friendly agricultural product certification service are increasing. Keeping up with the trends, the Industry-Academia Collaboration Agency established a center for environment-friendly agricultural product certification inside of the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. The Center has been designated as a certification body of environment-friendly agricultural products by the Gwangju and Jeonnam Office of the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Services. The Environment-Friendly Agricultural Product Certification Program is designed to establish both production and distribution systems of environment-friendly agricultural products and prevent general products from being labeled as environment-friendly. Products from organic farming, or crops without chemicals, or with a slightest amount of chemicals, make consumers healthy and producers competitive. In addition, the program will contribute to reducing environmental degradation caused by agriculture and to preserving the clean environment. The opening ceremony of the Environment-friendly Agricultural Product Certification Center will be held at the main auditorium of Agriculture Specialization Center Building at 3 p.m. of March 15. The Center will begin search for successful models of certified-organic produce growers, and provide consulting service to enhance competitiveness of organic agricultural products. In addition, it will carry out promotion activities and enhancing reliability of consumers by establishing shopping areas that sell only organic agricultural products, while supporting producers with direct subsidy policy etc. The certification program is that the government certifies good and safe agricultural products. By adopting it, consumers will have chances to have reliable food and producers will be encouraged to produce high-quality and good agricultural products. With the designation of the center, CNU will accelerate diverse cooperative projects including eco-friendly farming, green architecture, ecological environment, and cultural tourism, and manpower growth.
