CNU's Environment-friendly Agriculture Research Agency (Director: Prof. Kim Kil-yong) has recently developed a chitin-based microbial agent and Cho Ho-hyun living in Deokjin-myon, Yongam-gun County, has successfully produced pesticide-free pear. Using the pears, a research team implemented experiments on the chitinase pesticide-free pears
effect on liver cell and ATP growth. The experiment result showed that the pesticide-free pears have facilitated the growth of stem cells and ATP two times faster. According to Prof. Park Soo-hyun, leading the experiment, the pesticide-free pears have 180% increasing effect on the growth of liver cells of experimental rats. The normal pear ground powder and the pesticide-free pear powder have been injected into the liver cells of experimental rats by different amounts of 5㎕/㎖, 20㎕/㎖, and 40㎕/㎖. In the experiments of cell growth, the pesticide-free pear group showed 2 times increasing result compared with the normal pear group. Prof. Park Soo-hyun said, \"Based on the experiment results, chitinase pesticide-free pear has an effect of stimulating the growth of normal liver cells. It can activate the metabolism and engage in bio-increment. I think the growth of liver cells can help the function of injured livers revived.\" The Environment-Friendly Agriculture Research Agency, led by Prof. Kim Kil-yong (Major of Biological and Environmental Chemistry, Department of Applied Bioscience & Biotechnology, College of Agriculture & Life Sciences), has succeeded in developing the new biopesticide/fertilizer mixture in 2004. Since then, the agency has led the research projects on the effective use of biological pesticides, called biopesticides. Based on the research results, the pesticide-free products such as tomato, pepper, and other fruits will be produced continuously.
