46 New Faculty Members Employed

Forty-six professors join the CNU faculty this year. Of the 46 full-time faculty members, 39 were the faculty employed through the CNU’s 36th faculty recruitment program and seven were employed through the special appointment program. Of the total employed faculty, 17.4 percent (8 of them) are women.
Cho Jung-gwan, working at Hanshin University, was employed through the special appointment program for the May 18 Research Institute. Since 2004, CNU has recruited a full-time professor for the May 18 Research Institute and the education of the May 18 Movement. CNU has made efforts to attract Prof. Cho for the last one year.
Cho graduated from Yonsei University and obtained his master
s and doctor
s degree from Yale University with his doctoral thesis titled \"Korea
s Democratization Process: From Authoritarianism into the Consolidated Democratized System.\" In 2001 Cho joined the Hanshin University faculty and has educated the democracy to students. Cho will take charge of the research and study field on the May 18 movement and human rights in Gwangju area.
A married couple was newly employed for the Dept. of Medical Science. Prof. Cho Sang-hee and Prof. Park Hyong-wook are the ones.
Seven law professors were employed including Lee Chol-hwan, judge of Sunchon District Court and Lee Hyun-jae, attorney. The number of the full-time faculty for the College of Law increased up to 32. The faculty increase has been a part of the policy to obtain the authorization for the establishment of the Law School program.
Through the special appointment program, Chong Kyong-un and Lee Mu-yong were employed for the Graduate School of Cultural Studies. Prof. Kim Byong-in was employed for the courses of Honam Studies at the Dept. of History.
Prof. Oh Ki-seok, employed to work at the Dept. of Veterinary Medicine, graduated from the same department in 1977 and has been working as a researcher at the department. The
