A student-run electric car club at CNU has been selected as a recipient of support from a global company in the United States, receiving free software.

CNU’s club ‘SEM’ (Self-made Electric Mobility; president: Lee Seung-hyun, fourth year, supervised by Professor Lee Young-dal) confidently participated in a call for applications for domestic club support programs sponsored by the global IT company Altair and was selected as a silver-level club. As a result, they receive various types of software for free from the company, along with monthly club support funds.

The American IT company Altair provides comprehensive open-architecture solutions, including various data analyses, simulations, and high-performance computing, and supports five gold-level clubs and ten silver-level clubs in Korea.

SEM was formed in January by about 20 students majoring in intelligent mobility. They are based at the Industry-Academic Convergence Campus located in Bitgreen Industrial Complex.

They plan to broaden their understanding of self-made electric cars through dynamic-based theoretical studies and corporate visits and also plan to carry out activities ranging from design to analysis, production, operation, and maintenance.

In particular, SEM plans to challenge itself in optimizing the design of core components of self-made electric cars using the Altair software they received and also to participate in the 2024 Smart e-Mobility Competition to be held in Yeonggwang County in October.
