CNU Selected for a Special Graduate School of Plant Protection

CNU will establish a special graduate school to train experts in plant disease, pest management, and plant protection.

According to CNU, it has been selected through a consortium with Jeonbuk National University and Kyungpook National University to apply for the Agri-food Technology Convergence Creative Talent Cultivation Project supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs and the Korea Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry. As a result, these three universities will receive 6 billion KRW for three years until 2023 to establish and operate the Special Graduate School of Plant Protection. Among them, CNU is in charge of pest control, while Kyungpook National University is in charge of plant quarantine, and Jeonbuk National University is in charge of the prevention of pests. They will employ a convergence curriculum for training customized pest experts.

CNU has established an eco-friendly agricultural research institute and has been recognized as a core university in the field of eco-friendly pest control. It plans to cooperate with related industries to cultivate pest control experts and improve capacity of personnel in the field.

To this end, CNU plans to run specialized lectures by establishing a system for education related to pest control technology and opening major courses in related departments.
