The joint festival “Ojida” organized by five national universities, including CNU, took place successfully at CNU on December 1.

“Ojida”, a standard Korean term meaning substantial and fulfilling without any flaws, signifies enhanced cooperation and exchange among national universities in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region, fostering a meaningful festival that university members and local residents can enjoy together.

Participating universities included CNU, Gwangju National University of Education, Mokpo National University, Mokpo National Maritime University, and Sunchon National University. Around 400 participants, including students, professors, staff, as well as high school seniors from Gwangju's Soong-il High School and Songwon High School, joined the festival to share educational achievements and research capabilities in a festive atmosphere.

In the special lecture, Professor Shin Jong-ho (Seoul National University) delivered a lecture on “Fostering the Power of Thought in the Era of AI.” The lecture emphasized the importance of literacy, creativity, and critical thinking skills in the AI era, with a focus on the foundation of deep reading.

Various programs, including ▲ club performances (CNU's We'z and SU:M, Mokpo National Maritime University's Nolae Maeul, Gwangju National University of Education's Muajigyeong), ▲ student workshops “Creative Thinking Organizing Techniques Visual Thinking,” ▲ a faculty workshop “Operation and Practice of PBL,” ▲ ChatGPT Question Contest Finals and Awards Ceremony, and ▲ introduction of recommended books by five national universities along with experience and exhibition booths, campus tours, and so on received positive reviews.

Especially notable was the “University’s Loved Books” corner, where presidents of the five universities introduced recommended books. ▲ Gwangju National University of Education recommended Kang Shin-joo's One Bowl of Love, Humanities of Affections, ▲ Mokpo National University recommended Latisha Colombo's Three Forks, ▲ Mokpo National Maritime University recommended Hong Jung-wook's Act 7 Scene 7 And Afterward, ▲Sunchon National University recommended The Longest Happiness Inquiry Report in the World by Robert Waldinger and others, and ▲CNU recommended Artistic Imagination: The Power to See Beyond by Oh Jong-woo.

A total of 100 recommended books, with signatures of encouragement from the university presidents, were distributed to participants through a lottery.

President Jung stated, "It was a meaningful time gathering the charm and capabilities of the five universities to learn from each other's success stories. I believe the festival was not just a satisfying time of enjoyment together, as the title, Ojida, suggests."
