The Family of the Late Dr. Kim Doo-won Donated 100 Million KRW to the CNU Development Fund

On February 25th, CNU received a development fund of 100 million KRW from the family of the late neurosurgeon Kim Doo-won and expressed consolation and gratitude to the bereaved family, wishing the deceased a blessing.

The late Dr. Kim, a graduate of CNU’s medical school, passed away on January 30th (aged 87).

The donation ceremony was attended by the widow of the late Dr. Kim, his son, Kim Geun-yong (CEO of D-Tech), senior professors Kim Soo-han and Lee Je-hyuk, who had a close relationship with the deceased, and Professor Jeong Shin (CNU Department of Neurosurgery).
 
The late Dr. Kim’s son said, “My father was very fond of his alma mater and his students and he wanted to contribute to the development of CNU by donating funds. It is our pleasure and honor to carry out the desires of my father.”

President Jung said, “We pay respect and thank the deceased for giving CNU this precious offering. We will use the development funds provided by the late Dr. Kim Doo-won in a meaningful way.”
 
The late Dr. Kim spent his entire life working in the medical field and caring for patients. In particular, he took the lead in combating leprosy by serving as the vice president of the Hansen Welfare Association in Korea and heading the Gwangju branch of said association. He also fulfilled his vocation as a medical practitioner by serving as president of the Gwangju Medical Association, the Korean Neurosurgical Society, and the Korean Medical Association.
