CNU has pledged to move forward with the attitude of “Haehyunkyungjang” (解弦更張), meaning “adjusting the strings and tuning the komungo,” in 2024.

On January 2, at the Convention Hall of the Yongji Building on campus, amid the presence of faculty, alumni, and student representatives, the university held the 2024 inaugural ceremony, pledging to remain faithful to the essence of education and research with the hopeful spirit of “adjusting the strings and tuning the komungo.”

The phrase derives from the practice of tightening the slack strings of komungo, a Korean harp, which produces a clear sound after tuning the bow, symbolizing the commitment to adhere to standards.

President Jung stated, "Just as the six strings of the komungo create a harmonious tone when each member gives their best in their respective positions, we can achieve the best results. Let's welcome the new year with abundant imagination, dream big, and strive to realize everything we hope for."

Previously, President Jung, along with key post members, executives of the alumni association, and student representatives, visited the May 18 National Cemetery to pay tribute to CNU alumni who dedicated themselves to democracy. President Jung wrote in the visitor's book, "With the spirit of 'adjusting the strings and tuning the komungo,' let us become confident and free CNU members who transcend limits to become the center of the world," before offering the tribute and incense.
