15.2.2 supporting land ecosystems through education policy food sustainably farmed

[Chonnam National University Naju Practice Farm Rice Sales]

Chonnam National University utilizes rice grown at its Naju Practice Farm in the university's student cafeterias. This rice is cultivated directly by students and faculty members of the university's agriculture-related departments as part of their practice and research. The use of rice from the Naju Practice Farm in the student cafeterias has significant implications.

Firstly, it offers students fresher and healthier meals as it is grown by the university itself. Additionally, using rice grown on the university farm educates students about the value and importance of agriculture, fostering interest in the field.

Furthermore, Chonnam National University achieves its educational goal by providing students with real agricultural field experiences and imparting agricultural techniques and knowledge. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of agriculture and practical agricultural skills through the process of growing rice.

In this way, Chonnam National University promotes sustainable agricultural practice and education, offering healthy meal options to its members and providing students with practical understanding and experience in agriculture, thereby realizing an integrated approach to education and practice.

[University Cafeteria Uses Rice Grown on Chonnam National University's Practice Farm]

Chonnam National University conducted the '100 Won Breakfast' event in celebration of Farmers' Day, aimed at promoting the consumption of our rice and expressing gratitude to farmers. This event, held from November 9th to 11th at the Gwangju, Hwasun, and Yeosu campus cafeterias, allowed students to enjoy breakfast for just 100 won. A notable feature of this event was the use of newly harvested rice from Chonnam National University's practice farm, along with various side dishes. The event received a high response from students, surpassing the usual number of participants in the regular '1000 Won Breakfast.' The university plans to continue offering the '1000 Won Breakfast' in the future.
