[students (both undergraduate and graduate)]

Chonnam National University has a student government association as its representative body for students, serving an important role representing 20,000 students. The role and responsibilities of this student government are prescribed by the Chonnam National University Student Government Association Bylaws. The main purpose of the student government is to contribute to the development of the school through free and democratic self-governing activities, representing and realizing the interests and demands of students.

To this end, Chonnam National University has established the 'Chonnam National University Student Government Association Election Bylaws' to democratically and fairly elect student leaders. The conduct, control, and regulation of the elections are carried out by the Central Election Commission according to these rules. The purpose of the Central Election Commission is to ensure that elections are conducted in a fair and democratic manner.

The right to vote in the student government elections is granted to all members, meaning every student can play a significant role as a democratic component of the university. In this way, students have the right to elect their representatives, and the student council seeks to pursue the interests of students in all aspects of university life.

[faculty]

The Chonnam National University Faculty Association is established based on the university's academic regulations, governing the organization and operation of the faculty. The Faculty Association is composed of full-time faculty members currently employed at Chonnam National University (Article 2) and has a board of directors as its main decision-making body.

The president, as the representative of the Faculty Association, is elected through direct and secret ballots by the board and the general assembly. Presidential candidates are elected from among full-time faculty members who have worked for more than ten years, with certain eligibility restrictions. If there are more than four candidates, the top three vote-getters are decided by the board, and if there are three or fewer, the president is elected by the entire faculty through electronic voting. In the event of a tie, the candidate with the higher position, earlier appointment date, or seniority is determined as the winner. The term of the president is two years, with the possibility of one re-election.

The Faculty Association coordinates faculty opinions and represents the interests of the faculty within the university. It focuses on adjusting the duties and rights of faculty members and ensuring academic freedom and rights in the operation of the university.
