[University Development Plan]
The university goal of Chonnam National University is to become a global talent nurturing university that opens a sustainable world together with the region.
Since its establishment in 1952 through donations from local residents, Chonnam National University has advanced unwaveringly in academia and education over 70 years. Founded on the principles of truth, creation, and service, the university has pursued academic truth, contributed to regional and national development, and led in defending the universal values of life, democracy, human rights, and peace. Additionally, it has contributed to the local community through science, technology, and cultural arts. In response to changing times, the university has continually updated and supplemented its development plan to pursue future-oriented growth. The 'Chonnam National University Development Plan Report (2022-2025)' emphasizes the sustainability of university development by adapting to new environments and reflecting the vision of the 21st president. With the goal of nurturing global talents by 2030, the university has established 40 key strategies across five major areas and plans to enhance execution by systematizing performance management.
Regarding regional cooperation in the development plan, Chonnam National University emphasizes its role as a hub national university that overcomes regional crises such as population decline, outflow, and economic recession, and co-exists with the local community. The university stresses the need to strengthen educational cooperation with the community and to expand its role as a lifelong learning institution, providing various educational programs for youths, residents, and the community. Furthermore, it aims to collaboratively resolve regional and national issues and build a glocal cooperation community to contribute to solving global problems.
The execution strategies include enhancing educational support for local youths, strengthening lifelong learning support for residents, operating programs for community revitalization, establishing a glocal cooperation community, collaborating to resolve local issues, strengthening cooperation systems between universities, sharing university resources tailored to the needs of local residents, and expanding contributions to the local community. Through these initiatives, the university seeks to serve the members of the local community and increase the sharing of educational and cultural infrastructure and human resources with the society.
