In 2022, Chonnam National University admitted 3,676 students, of which 1,910 were female, comprising 51.9% of the total. While there is no direct support specifically for women's admission, the university operates various balanced opportunity selection systems for social consideration targets, multicultural families, households with multiple children, and those living in child welfare facilities.

[Faculty and Staff]
 
Chonnam National University operates a Gender Equality Faculty Appointment Committee to promote gender equality in faculty recruitment. The university also tracks the number and gender ratio of new faculty appointments, striving for gender equality.
 
In 2022 (from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022), the proportion of women among new faculty was 29.2%. Notably, in the Arts and Physical Education fields, there was an increase from 33.3% in 2021 to 100% in 2022. Although the overall percentage of women is low due to the high proportion of male professors in the science and engineering fields (42% of new appointments), the percentage of women in fields other than science and engineering is 57.8%.

The university manages and supports the increased participation of female faculty in internal decision-making bodies.

1. The Personnel Committee includes at least 20% female members.

2. The Finance Committee regulation amendment to include at least 20% female members has been completed.

3. The University Council considers female members as a priority for new appointments or replacements, significantly increasing the number and proportion of female members from 2021 (1 member, 10%) to 2022 (4 members, 20%).

4. The Gender Equality Committee for Faculty Appointment includes at least 30% female members.
