Chonnam National University is home to international students from 74 different countries. Among them, the university operates various welfare systems such as scholarships and dormitories to support students from low or lower-middle-income countries to complete their studies.
[Scholarships]
In order to reduce the tuition burden for international students from low-income countries who have difficulty maintaining their studies due to financial hardships, Chonnam National University offers the "Foreign Student Creative Scholarship." The selection targets students from ODA recipient countries. The selection criteria are as follows:
1. Priority is given to students from the poorest countries among the OECD Development Assistance Committee aid recipients.
2. Scholarship allocation is prioritized based on the GDP of the OECD Development Assistance Committee aid recipient countries.

[Dormitories]
International students are priority candidates for Chonnam National University dormitories. Dormitory residents can also receive free health check-ups at the Chonnam National University health clinic.
Considering the difficulties international students may have with the Korean language, guidance is provided in English and Chinese through the Chonnam National University dormitory website.

[Clothing Support]
Every November, Chonnam National University hosts 'International Culture Day.' As part of the event program, a clothing bazaar for international students is operated. The Chonnam National University Women’s Professor Association has provided various living necessities, including winter clothes, donated by university members. The proceeds from the bazaar are used for scholarships for international students.
