11.2.4 support of arts and heritage public access spaces

[Chonnam National University Democracy Trail]

To honor the legacy of the democratization movement within the university, Chonnam National University has established the 'Democracy Trail'. This trail is a cultural park concept that connects 11 memorial spaces within the campus through three routes. The first route, 'Path of Justice', follows the campus's central axis, connecting sites and spaces related to the May 18th movement. The second and third routes, 'Path of Human Rights' and 'Path of Peace', respectively, encompass the east and west sides of the campus. These paths, which serve educational purposes and share the values of democracy, are equipped with various guidance tools including explanatory signs. Key areas are divided into core, historical, and connecting districts, with the May 18th Democracy Square as the focal point, offering visitors the opportunity to experience and remember the history of the democratization movement.

As part of the detailed program, the 'Democracy Walk with Chonnam National University' allows all community members to participate for free, offering tours of the Democracy Trail and talk concerts on themes related to democracy and human rights.
