11.4.9 sustainable practices planning development new brownfield builds

Chonnam National University is constructing new buildings and establishing campuses, taking into account the passage of educational environment assessments and various location conditions.

As an example, let's discuss the establishment of the Chonnam National University Bitgreen National Industrial Complex Academic-Industrial Convergence Campus.

The Bitgreen National Industrial Complex is being developed as part of Gwangju Metropolitan City's employment policy initiative and is planned to be a hub for the eco-friendly, future-oriented automotive industry. Additionally, the Chonnam National University Academic-Industrial Convergence Campus, located within this complex, is strategically positioned in the heart of the Gwangju, Mokpo, and Yeonggwang regions, serving as a key transportation node in the southwestern part of the Korean Peninsula, which ensures excellent accessibility.

The complex houses facilities like Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) and the eco-friendly automotive innovation cluster, which provide optimal conditions for customized, on-site education for students of Chonnam National University's Smart Mobility Convergence department.

The layout of the industrial complex takes into account the region's strategic industries and is designed to be flexible, accommodating changes in land use, traffic, and business plans to meet actual demand. This flexibility allows for adjustments in the placement of factories by industry type and promotes collaboration among related industries.
