[International Symposium on 'Current and Future of Animal Biotechnology']
 

Chonnam National University's Genetic Resources Information Center, led by Professor Kim Sung-hak, hosted an international symposium on 'Current and Future of Animal Biotechnology' from February 17th to 18th at the College of Agricultural Life Sciences. The symposium featured presentations and discussions on basic research and industrial applications of biotechnology, with participation from renowned scholars from China and the USA, as well as domestic experts from academia, industry, and research. Topics presented included contamination of feed with the fungal toxin 'Zearalenone', anti-aging substance development, therapeutic/diagnostic antibody development, and research and development trends for 2023, among others.

[Animal Ecology Education]
 
Chonnam National University operated an animal ecology education program. The purpose of this program was to connect people with nature, raise awareness of biodiversity conservation, and emphasize the importance of animals and nature. The program, conducted at the university's Animal Husbandry Training Center, was designed to teach children and adolescents about the value of life through interaction with animals. The program included animal ecology explanations, feeding, and touching experiences with ducks, turkeys, geese, and black goats.

[Experience at Bogildo Academic Forest]
 

The program, in collaboration with Naju Yeongsanpo Girls' Middle School and Wando Bogil Middle School, aimed to provide an understanding of the ecology of subtropical forests amidst climate change and introduce students to Bogildo Academic Forest, the only subtropical forest research forest in Korea. The experience was designed to offer insights into forestry careers and the importance of subtropical forests.

[Kindergarten Agricultural Experience Program]
 

Chonnam National University's Arboretum hosted an agricultural experience program for kindergarten children. The program aimed to provide healthy experiential activities for children affected by COVID-19, enhance the university's role in community service and regional coexistence, and increase awareness of agriculture and the significance of forests. The program was participated by 19 children and two teachers from Yonsei Kindergarten and included activities like forest walking and learning about different types of trees and their importance.

The Agricultural Practice Education Center operated a forest experience program aimed at students, staff, and the local community. The program included forest interpretation and woodworking experiences, focusing on understanding the importance of forests and trees, observing different tree species, and hands-on woodworking activities. Participants learned about various trees' characteristics and roles through guided walks and hands-on experiences.
