8.2.4 employment practice commitment
 
Chonnam National University complies with the Labor Standards Act of South Korea. The Labor Standards Act is a law established to guarantee the minimum rights of workers, providing a basic legal framework regarding working conditions and relationships between workers and employers. This law regulates employment contracts, working hours, holidays, leaves, wages, welfare benefits, dismissals, etc., and aims to improve the working conditions of workers, and promote labor stability and welfare enhancement.

Summary:

Employment Contract: Employers must provide workers with a written document specifying working conditions upon entering into an employment contract.
 
Working Hours: The weekly working hours cannot exceed 40 hours, based on 8 hours per day.
 
Rest Periods: Workers must be given regular rest periods during work and guaranteed at least one paid rest day per week.
 
Overtime, Night, and Holiday Work: Work that exceeds legal working hours, night work, and legal holiday work must be compensated with additional wages.
 
Wages: Workers must be paid regular and fixed wages, and non-payment of wages is prohibited.
 
Severance Pay: Workers who have worked for a certain period must be paid severance pay upon leaving the company.
 
Dismissal: Workers cannot be dismissed without just cause, and procedures such as dismissal notice and x-objection to dismissal must be followed.
 
Occupational Accidents: Employers are responsible for compensating for accidents that occur during work.
 
Worker's Rights: In collective labor relations, workers have the right to collective bargaining and collective action (such as strikes).
 
Labor Supervision: Labor inspectors from the Ministry of Labor can supervise employers' premises to enforce the law and protect workers' rights.
